The Blood Bank Drive was held at the Crest Hollow on May 30, 2006. It was well attended by all the Pioneer Clubs.
Troop Care Packages
November 17, 2006
On November 17th, members of the various Paumanok Clubs and Councils gathered at the main office in Babylon, New York to help pack boxes to be sent to our troops overseas. An incredible amount of donations were received for this event ranging from tins of home baked cookies and boxes of tea and hot chocolate to toiletries, holiday decorations, and puzzle books. The group packed 54 boxes to be sent to the overseas troops. It was a full day and very satisfying.
Nassau Council / Veterans Stand Down
November 17, 2006
On Monday, November 20, 2006, Chapter, Nassau Council, South Bay LMC and Sagamore LMC participated in the Stand Down at the Freeport Armory. The Telecom Pioneers was one of the many organizations that gave their time and effort to the annual event. Sagamore prepared and served a Turkey dinner for the veterans. The Pioneers distributed 150 hats,150 pairs of gloves, 100 duffel bags, 40 large bags and homemade cookies. Dan MacDonald who repairs watches distributed more than 100 watches to the service men and women.
South Bay – Leo Giblyn School
September 27, 2006
On September 27, 2006, Doris and Andy Mobilia delivered 144 dictionaries to the Leo Giblyn School in Freeport with the assistance of Dominic and Dorothy Schiavone. The children represented their classrooms, counted the number of students in their respective rooms and delivered the books. They were very happy to be of help. South Bay was thanked by the children and said they really liked the dictionaries.
South Bay / Hagedorn Little Village School
October 12, 2006
On Thursday, October 12, 2006, Dominic and Dorothy Schiavone, Hank and Marge Koehler went to The Hagedorn Little Village School in Seaford for a Mother Goose Reads program. and delivered a total of 150 Golden Books They visited two classes that day and gave books to two more classes that were to meet the following day. The Children participated in the readings and sang nursery rhymes. The teachers and volunteers were pleased with the presentation.
South Bay / John Dinklemeyer School
November 2, 2006
On November 2, 2006, a rug map was delivered to the John Dinklemeyer School in Bellmore. Dominic and Dorothy Schiavone, Pat Ronga, Marge and Hank Koehler had the children use the map to locate the capitals of the different States. They had a good time and the teachers were very pleased with the rug map and the enthusiasm of the children.
South Bay / John West School
May 2, 2006
On May 2, 2006 South Bay delivered 96 Golden Books to the kindergarden classes at the John West School in Bethpage. Mother Goose, the granddaughter of Marilyn and Jack Stecker, did a great job of reading and singing with the children.
